(6) C'è, Ci sono - There is, There are

Forma affermativa:
There is (There's) - c'è
There are - ci sono

Forma interrogativa:
Is there...? c'è...?
Are there...? ci sono...?

Forma negativa:
There is not (There isn't) - non c'è
There are not (There aren't) - non ci sono

Risposte brevi:
Yes, there is/are
No, there isn't/aren't

Le forme there is e there are corrispondono alle forme italiane c'è e ci sono
- There are two posters on the wall. (Ci sono due poster sul muro.)
- Are there any pens on the desk? - Yes, ther's one. (Ci sono delle penne sul banco? - Sì, ce n'è una.)

Per chiedere se c'è qualcuno in casa, in ufficio, ecc. in genere non si usano there is e there are.
- Is Jim in? Is Jim at home? (C'è Jim? Jim è a casa?)

There può però essere usato con il significato di "lì/là" e in questo caso è posto dopo il sostantivo o pronome a cui si riferisce.
- Is Jim there? - No, he isn't here. (E' lì Jim? - No, non è qui)
